We talk about people surfing the web looking for opportunities
to earn income. I'm not sure of the origins of the idea that the World Wide Web is
like an ocean beach. The reality is more like a large, shallow wave pool where millions
of people go swimming. Sure, there are waves to ride, but only a handful of expert
wave riders ever seem to catch them... the vast majority end up wallowing in their
wake. In reality, most of those manufactured waves (it's a wave pool, right?)
are created by the experts gurus who ride them to shore.
I have no problem with any of this, as long as being a winner doesn't
rely on other people losing.
Far too often, those artificial "waves" are manufactured by the gurus for
the express purpose of relieving their eager followers of their money. Oh, sure...
the gurus will expound long and loud about the merits of their "win-win"
offerings. But the hard, cold facts are tricky to refute...
- The vast majority of
buyers of their latest, hottest, do-it-yourself Internet marketing ebooks, tools
and systems will NOT enjoy the kind of benefits they expect when they hand
over their money.
Yes, many of those eager
buyers are too lazy or incompetent to do what needs to be done. They lack the skills
needed, or other resources. But the lasting impression is still one of shooting fish
in a barrel with a sawn-off shotgun. Or with sticks of dynamite (they really
make waves!)
The gurus will proclaim "come on in... the water's fine!" And that
suggests another view of reality. It's not an ocean. It's a tropical lagoon.
Warm, balmy and safe.
Yeah... right. Like so many tropical lagoons, you can't see the sharks until
it's too late. They infest the warm, teeming waters because that's where the fish
they feed on come to swim in their thousands.
And, just like a communal pool where large groups of kids gather, we probably should
spell it 'pswimming' because, like the words pseudo psychology,
the pee in swimming is totally silent!
In other words, when you have a bunch of people peeing in the Internet marketing
pool for long enough, either deliberately or because they don't
know any better, the water finally reaches the stage where it's
no longer safe to swim in it. (And you certainly wouldn't want
to swallow it!)
Frankly, from where we stand, it's showing increasing signs of getting to that unsafe,
unsanitary level already. Every guru peeing in the pool deliberately is soon
followed by thousands of gullible clones and drones doing it for no better reason
than because the guru does it. What they fail to notice is that the guru isn't
actually swimming in the water with them... they're busy generating and riding
their latest, hottest, "buy it now before it's too late" waves.
There are really only three ways to fix the problem...
- Expose
those deliberately peeing in the pool!
- Once you turn a bright light
on their activities their motives and methods you soon find them
disappearing. "Darkness cannot abide light" as the saying goes.
They slink off to find other "niche" pools they can contaminate with their
win-lose attitudes.
Like any kind of parasite, they eventually kill off the hosts on which they feed.
- Enlighten
and empower those who know no better!
- You can't
tell (or sell!) anyone anything until you can seize their undivided
attention. Too often, especially for the ignorant, fearful,
lazy, greedy, gullible or dull-witted, that requires the threat
of imminent doom such as their credit card provider slamming
the money bag shut! Once you have their attention, educate them
with the knowledge and skills they need to turn their situation
around and begin enjoying success.
- Improve
the quantity and quality of the water!
- Increase the size of the
pool for a start, then replace the fouled water. And discourage everyone from repeating
the terminal stupidity they've been indulging in.
Can you
see how this web site is designed to help achieve all three objectives,
?
And can you see what's really been going on in that pool you've been dog-paddling
around in?
